Born on February 13, 1977, in Sabah, Malaysia, Aidahwaty M Olaybal has built a distinguished career in medical device regulation. She earned her BSc (Hons) in Applied Physics from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2001 and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Surrey, UK in 2009.
Began as a lecturer at Kolej Ibukota Kota Kinabalu in 2000. She joined the Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2001 as a Scientific Officer and has held various key positions, including Assistant Director and Principal Assistant Director in the Medical Device Authority. Since 2021, she has served as Director of the Pre-Market Control Division at the Medical Device Authority.
Her notable achievements include several Excellent Service Awards from the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Health Malaysia and the prestigious DARJAH YANG MULIA PANGKUAN NEGARA award in January 2024. She has also been recognized with a WHO Fellowship award and a JPA Scholarship. She is an active member of the Malaysian Medical Device Professional Association (MMDPA).
